Introduction to Mathematical Thinking

Learn how to think the way mathematicians do - a powerful
cognitive process developed over thousands of years.
Dear FIX,
You might want to check out this good forum discussion on the merits/demerits and motivation/demotivation of course structure and deadlines. Some posts are from students doing or having done other MOOCs which provides useful comparisons.
I hope that, like me, you are excited to be part of a huge experiment in higher education. The current course is modeled closely on the traditional university transition math course given at many colleges and universities. As we learn from this first math-transition MOOC and iterate, we will be inventing a new model -- or more likely, new models.
I'll see you again in class tomorrow. Now we are getting into proofs, it might help to go back and read that blog post from the Harvard instructor about math transition courses I pointed out at the start of this MOOC. Harvard students find this kind of course really hard just as much as Stanford students -- or students from any university! If you are still with me, you've already done something to feel proud of!
